Terms and Conditions

Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using the Spent app (the "App"), developed by Joseph Murillo ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App.
  • Use the App in any way that violates applicable law.
  • Transfer or sublicense your rights under these Terms to any other party.

2. Accounts

To use sync and sharing features, you must create an account using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to keep your login credentials secure and to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use at hola@spentapp.co.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms.

3. Cloud Sync

The App syncs your financial data to our servers so you can access it across multiple devices. By using the sync feature, you authorize us to store and process your data as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter into the App.

We are not liable for any data loss resulting from device failure, network interruptions, or events outside our reasonable control. We recommend keeping your own records of important financial information.

4. Shared Wallets

The App allows you to create shared wallets and invite other users to join them. By participating in a shared wallet:

  • You acknowledge that all members of the shared wallet can view the wallet's full transaction history, including transactions you enter.
  • You are solely responsible for whom you invite to share a wallet.
  • You agree not to enter false, misleading, or harmful information into a shared wallet.
  • You may leave a shared wallet at any time. Transactions you entered prior to leaving will remain visible to other members.

We are not responsible for disputes between users of a shared wallet, including disputes over financial accuracy, shared expenses, or access to the wallet.

5. User Content

All financial data, transaction notes, and other content you enter into the App ("User Content") remains yours. You grant us a limited license to store and process your User Content solely to provide the App's services.

You represent and warrant that your User Content does not violate any applicable law or the rights of any third party.

6. Account Deletion and Data

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at hola@spentapp.co. Upon account deletion, your personal data and financial records will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days, except as required by applicable law.

Note that if you are a member of any shared wallets, transactions you entered will remain visible to other members of those wallets after your account is deleted.

7. Service Availability

We will make reasonable efforts to keep the App and sync services available. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may suspend, modify, or discontinue the App or any part of it at any time with or without notice.

8. No Warranty

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR CONTINUOUSLY AVAILABLE.

THE APP IS A PERSONAL FINANCE TOOL. IT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL FINANCIAL, ACCOUNTING, OR LEGAL ADVICE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, JOSEPH MURILLO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA OR FINANCIAL LOSS.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (USD $50.00).

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of San José, Costa Rica.

If you are a resident of the European Union or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws, you may also be entitled to the protections of those laws.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be available within the App. Continued use of the App after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
